MOBILE, ALABAMA RAPPER, LIL' Nardy is working hard at becoming Alabama's next big thing. He's currently promoting his first mixtape, Welcome 2 My World, which was released in December 2008.  In addition, he's in the studio working on three (Yes. I said three!) more projects - all of which are slated to be released this year!

Yep!  Lil Nardy is definitely on his grind.  But even with all this going on, he was still able to take a little time out from his busy schedule to indulge in a little Q&A Quickie with AWLH.

Oh...and we don't mind sharing.  Come along, as we learn a lil' more about Lil' Nardy...

You’re from Mobile right?

Yeah. I’m from Toulminville community in Mobile…It’s just a hood in Mobile.

How old are you?

I’m 21.

Where’d the name Lil’ Nardy come from?

My daddy’s Nardy, so we both got the same name, so I just had the name growing up and people called me Lil’ Nardy, so it just stuck with me.

How long have you been in the game?

Probably like 2 years. I made my first song bout like 2 years ago. I wanted to rap and then, when I finally took it serious, started going to the studio and perfecting it. So it’s going on 2 years.

What was the first song you released?

The first song I released as a solo artist was called “I Ain’t Playin Wit’ Em.”

 Who is BMB Entertainment?

That’s just me and my brother’s company that we started. We used to call ourselves BMB, doing just some shit in the streets. Like on some gang type of shit…It was just me and my homeboys, but then we started doing the music and doing shows and parties and shit, we had to put it under some name, so it became BMB Entertainment.

How’d you hook up with Rich Boy for the Catch Up Single?

It was really on some homeboy shit. He like my big brother. I met him through mutual friends. We had the same engineer when he used to record down in Mobile, so he just seen me grindin’ and said we gon’ do something, so he hopped on Catch Up. Catch Up it was my song by myself, but I just did one verse with him on there and just pushed it like that. And left it at that.

Who else have you worked with?

I’m working with C-Nile for his new album. He gon’ also be on my new album. Then besides C-Nile … I did a song yesterday with another cat from Mobile doing his thing named Lil Nook and my label-mate, It’s BJ. He’s down in Mobile too.

Who would you like to work with?

Jay-Z my favorite rapper, so to be able to be blessed to ever work with Jay-Z’ll be good...And Wayne, and Rick Ross and Yo Gotti. Them like my favorite rappers.

You have two mixtapes and your debut album is coming out toward the end of the year, right?

Yeah that’s what I’m working on now – the album and the two mixtapes.

When do you think those will be released?

The mixtapes: they’ll be out this summer. They almost through. I’m, damn near every night, just grindin’ out workin’ on them.

Describe your style or your sound.

My sound…I don’t really like to be put in a box. You know, I just like to make good music. I got all kinds of songs. Talking bout a variety of different things… from when I did hustle. Just club tracks. I love strip clubs… Just different types of music. I’m influenced by a lot of different types of music, so I try to make different types of music.

What’s the best thing about being an artist from Alabama?

I think we the underdogs. That’s what I think…being able to prove everybody wrong. Like we actually got some good music to put out.

What’s the worst thing about being an artist from Alabama?

Being the underdog. It’s kinda different. It’s hard. We got to really go out there and get it ‘cause we ain’t in a big market like Atlanta or Miami or something like that.

What’s your ultimate goal in the hip-hop industry?

My ultimate goal is just to have longevity. You know some people come out and just wanna’ have that one hit. Most people one and done. Especially in the south. A lot of rappers just come out and they one and done, but I just want that longevity - and a good connection with the fans.

What is your favorite thing to do outside of music?

To be honest, probably smoking weed. Which is a shame, but that’s probably my favorite thing to do?

Do you have any last words or comments?

I appreciate y’all for interviewing me. Welcome to My World 2 is on the way. Neiman Marcus Nardy on the way. The debut album The Take Off will be out in late ’09. Welcome 2 My World is in the streets right now. We’ll be in a city near you promoting it.

BUT UNTIL THEN, BE sure to check out Nardy's mixtape Welcome 2 My World.  You can listen to the full album now on Lil Nardy's MySpace page, or you can download it at www.datpiff.com.
